Today we:

• sang Mrs. LaFleur “Happy Birthday” (thanks, guys!);
• reviewed what a short story is and how it’s different from a novel;
• reviewed the story arc: Introduction – Rising Action (conflict) – Climax – Falling Action – Conclusion
• reviewed figurative language like simile, metaphor, personification, oxymoron, alliteration, and onomatopoeia;
• learned about “annotation” – making notes on a text to better understand/make it our own;
• analyzed the title of our short story, “Eleven”
• read “Eleven” by Susan Cisnero
